Dr. Uballe has worked his entire life to better the lives of those in the community around him.

Esiquio Ramos Uballe grew up in Austin, Texas, the youngest of eleven children in a family of migrant farm workers. Dr. Uballe was the first in his family to earn a college degree. He has spent his life helping the disadvantaged through his professional and his volunteer efforts. Esiquio has a long history of speaking to parents and children about the importance of higher education. He is a trained mediator with an extensive history of successful mediation and conflict resolution. The Associate Dean of Student Life at Cal State Fullerton, Dr. Uballe serves on the boards of Rosie’s Garage after school tutoring program and Kindercaminata, a pre-college experience for young children.

Since his graduation from high school, Esiquio has focused on the needs of his community.  Active in the Mexican American civil rights movement early in his career, he was a community center director and community organizer, and served on Parks and Recreation and neighborhood advisory boards, and the Austin Community Development Commission.

Dr. Uballe has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan with a major in Political Science.  Realizing the need to help other disadvantaged students gain access to higher education, he accepted a position at Saint Edward’s University Admissions Office in Austin working with the College Assistance to Migrants program. While there he obtained a Masters in Human Service Administration.

Dr. Uballe then moved to Texas State University, and was a program director for Upward Bound, Student Support Services and other U. S. Department of Education Programs for eight years. In 1997 Dr. Uballe accepted a Kellogg Fellowship through the Hispanic Border Leadership Project, allowing him to complete a Doctorate of Education in educational leadership and policy studies at Arizona State University.

Dr. Uballe has served as assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs at Cal State Fullerton and is currently the Associate Dean of Students for Student Life. Esiquio has been married to Susan Uballe, a clinical Social Worker and party activist, for 28 years and has two children.
